Diamond Neighborhood
Named for the areaís diamond-shaped business improvement district, the Diamond is an emerging gem located in the heart of San Diego's Fourth District. It is home to 88,000 residents and includes the communities of Chollas View, Emerald Hills, Lincoln Park, Mountain View, Mount Hope, North Encanto, Oak Park, South Encanto, Valencia Park, and Webster.
At its heart is a growing hub of activity that includes the Malcolm X Library and Performing Arts Center, the Tubman-Chavez Multicultural Center, and plans for a new 15,000-square-foot home for the Elementary Institute of Science.
Building on this momentum, the Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation partnered with community teams to design and build Market Creek Plaza, a 10-acre commercial and cultural center near the intersection of Market Street and Euclid Avenue, just five minutes from downtown San Diego.
The excitement building in the Diamond is not the work of any one person or organization. It is the result of many people coming together, believing in change.
